Ski trip!!
Hola!
Last weekend I went on a most great fantastical fun trip to Blue Mountain for a weekend of skiing and socializing. As an executive of the U of T Dance Club, ___ invited me to the annual UTDC Ski Trip. They had rented a chalet for 18 people (ahem, more like 25 or 30 in this case), 3 minutes drive from the slopes. This would be the first time that ___ and I would be together for a more extended period of time (almost 3 days). I didn't quite know what to expect.
It started rather poorly Friday, since the drivers had told ___ and me to be ready by 5:30 and 4, respectively (this is because ___ was in Concorde at work, and I was downtown where the drivers were). I was picked up at 4 from my house. Then we went to pick up the next person, only to find that they were still grocery shopping, and had only just begun! I could have done so much more work and/or waxed my skis! I was slightly annoyed, but not really too frustrated (as I'm not the type of person that gets frustrated by these kinds of things, and it gave me time to go to the licquor store), however ___ who was waiting around at work for 1 hour extra was extremely annoyed, and I can see why. It was the shittiest time management on the part of some of the others that I've ever seen. Anyway, we finally picked her up, after she'd been driven by one of her coworkers to a Starbucks somewhere closer to the highway on which we would be. The drive up was uneventful, except for the not-so-fast fast-food we had at Taco Bell...took them 30 minutes to make a few tacos from meat in a bag. And it gave me gas and stomach discomfort for the rest of the weekend. I hate Taco Hell/Smell!
After that the organizer decided that she should plan rooms for us, as well as assign a girls and boys bathroom. Totally ridiculous and unnecessary. We are not in kindergarten!! Needless to say, the plan was not followed.
The rest of the weekend went by well, I think. We got to ski til we were tired and cold, and the food and company was great...after an initial awkwardness. For some reason I felt really strange around ___ most of Saturday...I think I felt like there was some kind of pressure on me or something, to always be around her and chatting. Conversation seemed strained. Then finally, Saturday night after dinner, a nap and a little cuddling (and some red wine!), I realized that it was completely unnecessary. We were both here to relax and chat with other people and make new friends, and I didn't have to stick to her like glue. From then on it was great, and our conversations began flowing as they usually do. We skied, and had a great time Sunday all day and evening.
