The Perfect Girl

My friend was over to pick up my light set that he needs for a mountain biking race he's doing (24 hours tag team...yikes!), and as we're both single we began talking about what features we look for in girls. We ended up with quite a large list. The perfect girl must:

  • have good chemistry with me
  • enjoy physical activity (of all sorts!)
  • be able to effectively participate in said physical activities
  • have a logical mind
  • have a quirky sense of humour
  • have no major psychological problems or depressive tendencies
  • be easy to talk to
  • be a polite smoker if she smokes
  • not be a girly-girl (i.e. breaking a finger nail should not phase her), but a bit of ditzy-ness is ok, to me I think...these two statements seem to contradict each other, but girly-girl does not equal ditzy-ness
  • be adventurous
  • have at least an undergraduate university degree, or be on her way to one.
  • enjoy nature and being outdoors
  • enjoy many of the same hobbies as I do, or at least similar ones that I could be at least mildly interested in.
  • have granola-girl tendencies, but not be a full-on granola girl (although it might seem shallow...hairy armpits are a turn-off)
  • adore me and follow me wherever I go...heh, ok, maybe that's a bit much.
  • be laid-back and easy-going, and not sweat the small stuff, such as how I squeeze a tube of toothpaste, or where something goes in the kitchen
  • be willing to compromise and make the relationship work.

These were the requirements that both of us had. Now my personal requirements (that differ quite a bit from his), and things I thought of after, are that she should

  • be asian
  • be willing to smoke up once in a while, but not be a pot-head.
  • be thin but not so skinny that you can see her bones and doesn't have any nice curves left :-P
  • enjoy travelling and learning about other cultures
  • enjoy learning new languages
  • preferably be non-vegetarian...I like cooking and serving yummy rare steaks, and it would be awesome if she would eat it!
  • be outgoing and talkative...there's nothing better than being with a girl that likes chatting and meeting new people just as much as I do.
  • like my friends, and I must like hers.

I'm sure I will think of other things as time goes on, but that's it for now! Is it too much to ask?!

Hey I think I'm your girl! Wait...wait...no, I'm not asian...and I have a boyfriend - and don't even ask him if I'm logical. ;) Good luck searching for your new lady - I'll keep my eyes open for you. I teach at a high school that is 80% asian - but they are probably all too young for you. :)

yes, I think high school students are a tad young...I was thinking I should date someone my age for once, instead of 21 or 22. Do you think these demands are too great?

Wow...completely cutting out the non-asians? Do you really want to be kissing a smoky mouth? Granola girl??? What on earth does that mean? And when did you become such a pot-liker?
In the end, I also vote for tossing the list. Makes things too restrictive.

ya, of course I agree a list is silly! But we were just having fun :-) BUT, to defend some of my items nonetheless, by polite smoker I mean someone who goes outside to do it, and chews gum before you kiss them, and not a smokestack. And granola girl, well, to me that's just someone who's not afraid of getting dirty on a camping trip, who cares about nature and the environment. And I'm not really a pot head, but not objecting to a dubey once in a while says something about a person's attitude, a bit more liberal I think...and what's wrong with a little pot once in a while?! :-P

whoever you are ag, i like you!!

even if your dream girl is a "polite smoker", it's the smoker's morning breath that is most deadly!! eck!

Well, Mrs Chris Martin, you're not too shabby yourself.
As for the biker dude, I'll vote with you on your definition of granola girl. Gotta be able to have fun while remeaning clean or getting dirty as can be. And I know you're not a pot-head, which was why I was surprised that you put pot smoking down as a requirement. And I can't say I've ever refused a puff or 3 on a joint. Especially with family :-) Anyways, I'm on the west coast now, so it kind of comes with the territory, doesn't it?
Open-mindedness is a far more important quality to look for than most of the other things on your list, I'd say. Good call :-)
