It's been a while...

Well well well, it's been a whole 11 days since I last posted here. I guess quite a few things have happened since then, but nothing highly amusing or interesting. My girlfriend ( :-D ) ___ came back from her Christmas vacation in Vancouver on January 3rd, which I don't think I've mentioned yet. I went to get her at the airport, which turned out to be a good thing because if I hadn't offered/asked if she needed a chauffeur, someone else would have gone that I wouldn't have been too happy about.

I've been spending quite a bit of time with her obviously, to the detriment of my health and cycling training. She unfortunately brought from Vancouver a nasty cold virus which hit me about 5 days after she came back. It is very annoying: sore throat, runny nose, cough, the whole works. Nevertheless, I'd rather catch a cold from her than from a dirty subway pole. At least I know where it came from! ;-) Fortunately Advil Cold and Sinus does wonders and I was able to function and actually do some work, if not ride spin bikes. Tomorrow I should be able to spin, finally. And then drink some beer.

Besides the cold and no spinning, I did go climbing several times, and I am out of shape! Those five pounds I put on over the Christmas Holiday are really making themselves felt! I was still able to do some 5.11c's and d's though, with a lot of grunting and repeated tries...I found original ways of doing the hard moves. I also met some of ___'s climbing friends.

Recently, ___ invited me to a goodbye dinner for a friend of hers who is going away to England, and there I met some camping friends of hers...the guy reminded me exactly of a guy named Phil that I know from undergrad, only Asian! It was uncanny. Same build, similar face, same way of speaking. That dinner was a totally different group of ___'s friends that I hadn't met before. It made me realize that the number of friends that we have put together is really big! And the great thing is, I like her friends, and she likes mine!

Last night she had a Monty Python and Mulled Wine night at her apartment, mostly because I'd never seen The Life of Brian before. A good time and good wine were had by all. One highlight of the evening was meeting her friend K____ who is a professional Dominatrix...weird eh! We also watched The Incredibles. Finally everyone left and her very chatty and interesting brother stopped talking and went to sleep and we were on our own for a bit.

Anyway...I hope that my friends don't feel too neglected what with all this time with ___. I apologize if anyone is feeling like this, and if they are, tell me and I'll try to remedy the situation. Because you know what they say: Bros before hos!

(I've had it pointed out to me post-post that some people might be offended by this comment. Let me explain. It really means that when one has a girlfriend one must not forget ones friend friends. It does not mean that friends that are girls are boys (bros) heh, and also it does not mean that ___ is a ho!! argh...I feel like I'm digging myself into a deeper hole. Also, the comment was left on this post, however I had to remove it because of compromosing nominal information. Please, don't use my name if you're posting a comment. Thanks! :-) )

In work news, I've finally figured out that I need to set myself monthly goals and schedules to be able to get any work done...You'd think this would be self-evident, but I'm a bit slow sometimes. It took marking 2nd year Engineering Design Lab notebooks to figure it out...setting plans and goals is one of the major things I was supposed to look for in their books! So I've set my objectives for this month, and I'm motivated and working hard!
